The first ever awards to appreciate Ugandans in the Diaspora are here, the Best Uganda Diaspora Awards (BUDA) will be held in Sweden during the 2nd Buganda African Carnival Conference Cruise aboard Viking Line Amorella on the 24 and 25th August 2012
According to organizers Spicy events the awards this year round though meant for Ugandans in the whole Diaspora have been started with only 6 categories appreciating Ugandans in Sweden alone.
Spicy events Chairman Muwawu Patrick says the awards have kicked off on a smaller scale but should be wider come next year with more categories and involvement of all Ugandans in the Diaspora.”Because we wanted to start small and grow bigger we decided to start with Sweden alone and expand otherwise we have over 20 categories lined up for next years’ event where all Ugandans will be Involved” says Mr. Muwawu.
HOW TO NOMINATE
Nominations are already under way in the seven categories namely Best parents, Best Single mother, Best Single Father, Best Youth Female, Best Youth male and Best Ugandan Overall. Ugandans in Sweden Nominate their best person in each category by sending their names on email spicyevents@hotmail.com where one can nominate themselves or a person of their choice as many times as they wish.
The 4 persons with most nominations in each category will battle it out in the final vote for the awards
Week 1- Best Parents (Nominations Closed)
Week 2-Best single Mother (Nominations Closed)
Week 3- Best single Father (Nominations Closed)
Week 4-Best Youth Female (Nominations 22nd-28th July)
Week 5- Best Youth Male (Nominations on 29th-4th august)
Week 6-Best Ugandan Overall (Nominations on 5th -11 th August)
After all Nominations the list of finalists will be released for the final vote that will run from the 5th -19th of August.
