You could have heard it (Sophia) somewhere and were left wondering who the Ugandan is echoing a message many abroad would like to tell someone back home in Uganda pestering them to join them abroad.
Well the man is none other than US based Ugandan Musician George Mulindwa (pic) a man who started his music career over 10 years back in Uganda.
Once referred to as the Ugandan Lucky Dube (RIP) after the south African Reggae Musician, Mulindwa has worked his way up to get out of that shell from years back into the celebrated artist he is today.
He has worked with legendary musicians like Eli Wamala (RIP), teamed up with Uganda’s best male vocalist Titan Takuba and best producer Timothy Kizito. He is credited for eight solid albums and one more “Nsubiiza” still in production by Bostons based HLT Reggae band nominated for five and won four World Music Awards
As George tells Ugamuziki radio “Sophia” has hands on touch by renowned international music producers George William Kiberu, Blaise Tongelo and Germany based producer Vicent Othieno, The album Sophia also features “Lwaki (Why)” a song that was composed and performed by George Muklindwa and George William Kiberu (together known as G&G) as a special tribute to his sister Joan Mulindwa who passed on in 2009
He has also of late released a list of equally good to the ear music including songs like Yogera Manye, Omutima, sigwe weka,Ebaluwa and Kiliza all playing on Ugamuziki Radio.
