Civil Society Organizations have threatened to take legal action against government over Mabira forest give away.
The organizations say they will sue government before the courts here and before the East African Court of Justice if the president goes ahead to give away part of Mabira forest to Mehta group of companies.
The organizations include Aggregate Coalition for Development and Environment, the National Association of Professional Environmentalists and Nature Uganda.
Godfrey Tumushabe the ACDE director says they have written to the presidents of East African countries asking them to advise President Museveni that Mabira forest does not belong to Uganda alone.
The activists have been condemning the president over the give away accusing him of not offering solutions to the environmental challenges the country is facing. President Museveni has insisted on giving away 7,100 hectares of the forest for sugar cane growing without listening to the dissenting voices.
