Being his debut performance in the Land of a Thousand Hills, Uganda’s spanning Afro-Dance hall musician Wycliffe Tugume alias Ykee Benda was readily awaited for by the massive crowd that graced the Nyama Choma Xtravaganza, an annual event that brings together Rwandans in Kigali into a meat Fest, which took place on March 4th , at Kigali’s CHIC Building RoofTop.
Hitting stage at 11pm, his performances followed other Rwandan musicians like the 2T Band, City Yankees and Davy Ranks. Curtain raising the event were Deejays Fresh Freddie, Dj Kiss and Selekta Copain, yet for the artiste was Tony Trust, whose song dubbed Akagatto warmed up the audience- setting pace for Benda.
His songs have soaked into most Rwandan music lovers, as this show was proof to that. From Eva– his new hit featuring Deejays. Roja and Slick Stuart, to Munakampala and Farmer, the audience swiftly sang louder to the artiste’s songs.
The artiste, whose songs hit not only back home, but through the regional charts, proves really of great charm to the audience, for his good stage command and connection with the audience, which he leaves back yearning.
